San Gerardo bulls auction was a success

remate de toros

The San Gerardo’s bull auction in Florida was a sales success. On a spectacular spring day, in which the weather was great, there were buyers who stayed out. The demand for bulls exceeded the supply of this first auction of the herd. As in the three previous years, the public attended in person and from all corners of the country online streaming

Rising prices

Prices were 20% higher than the previous year, which shows the quality of the genetics and the satisfaction level of the buyers. They are getting to know the bulls and come back for more every year to reinforce their breeding stock.

Very quickly, in little more than an hour, in an agile and choppy auction from the track, the phones and the web, the bulls were sold. Prices were very good and averaged U$S 3,558 for Aberdeen Angus and U$S 3,505 for Polled Hereford, respectively. These values, which set a trend in the Uruguayan countryside, accredit and give prestige to the added value of the team work to which the García Pintos Family has accustomed us.

Agile Auction

The auction opened with the offer of the bull that was crowned champion of the Honor Cup at Expo Minas 2022, last week in Campanero. It was disputed among several buyers and the following lots were quickly dispersed, clearly marking the exceptional quality of the bulls, which year after year mark their presence and consolidate their prestige. Excellent sires, of outstanding EPDs for Uruguayan agriculture, that populate the ranchs of Uruguay, which has earned the distinction of being the most agricultural country in the world, in relation to its population.

Blood that grows

The 27 Aberdeen Angus and 12 Polled Hereford bulls left for 8 departments: Florida, Lavalleja, Canelones, San José, Flores, Soriano, Durazno and Cerro Largo, thus expanding the blood of San Gerardo, beyond several departmental borders, through the countryside of Uruguay. The free freight to the whole country is attractive for those producers who like the blood of these breeders and are far from the department.

In a bull auction season that has just begun, the offer was small in front of the greediness of the buyers who bid by different means. They will have the opportunity to continue bidding at the auction that will take place next October 20, at El Campanero.

The auction was sponsored by the Society of Aberdeen Angus Producers of Uruguay, the Society of Hereford Producers, broadcasted live by Campo Tv and Campo Tv web. Buyers had the possibility of anticipating their bids on the website several days in advance, which made it possible to start the auction with a large number of lots with a guaranteed price floor and discounts.

In this third consecutive auction, the directors of Escritorio Arrospide Agribusiness firm , Juan Luis and Diego Arrospide, were extremely pleased with the organization and success of sales of the San Gerardo bulls. It took place in facilities of the Rural Association of Reboledo, in the department of Florida. The interest in the bulls of the García Pintos family is growing steadily and is directly related to the support and effectiveness of the animals.
